For Sale is a very lovely piece of Art Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The Item is the highly collected and very desirable "Floriform" or "Trumpet" form Flower Vase". The Vase is done in Tiffany's highly sought after Gold Favrile Glass. The Vase has some size to it as it stands 9 1/2" tall. The Top or Flower part of the Vase is approximately 3" in diameter outside measurement.
The Floriform displays a Trumpet Shaped Flower at the top. The Flower Form has Vertical Ribbing that rises up from a knuckle off of a circular or round platform foot. The Gold Floriform Favrile, Aurene Iridescence is just outstanding!! You can see very strong Fuchsia's along the bottom exterior foot accented with Platinum Blues on the knuckle. The main part of the Vase has outstanding Gold Iridescence throughout. The top opening displays a wonderful Onion Skin stretched gold veining on the inside and outside. The exterior under side lip has a wonderful platinum blue ring that surrounds the entire opening.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece shows minimal wear as you can see some minor calcium deposits. This clearly shows that this Vase was used as it was intended. This is very minor and does not affect the value. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Tiffany's Etched Signature that reads, "1886 L.C. Tiffany-Favrile" written in script in a counter clockwise fashion. As an added bonus the Vase also retains the shadow of its original tiny round Foil Label. I believe the 1886 is the model number in the Tiffany Favrile Catalogs.
According to the Moise S. Steig Jr Book "Tiffany Favrile Art Glass" early pieces bore numbers only. In some cases there are paper labels of several kinds, some larger than others. This Vase's markings fit this to a T. This was considered and early piece in the Tiffany Favrile Production based on it marks. Robert Koch the Tiffany Favrile expert also confirms this in his opinion as well. I would say this Vase was made Circa 1892-1894.
This is a very nice Vase. It is simply amazing that it has survived 112 years in this condition. It is almost as good as the day it was made. I'm sure the Lucky buyer will cherish this wonderful piece of Art Glass in their Collection for many years.
