For Sale is a very lovely piece of Art Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. I would call this a "Trumpet Daffodil Bud Vase". This Vase is done in Tiffany's highly sought after Gold Favrile Style of Art Glass. This Vase has some size to it as it stands 11 3/4" tall. The round foot is 3 5/8" in diameter and the top opening is 2 1/2" outside measurements.
The Flower Vase displays a classic shape. It is a tall tapered form on a round foot with a stepped knuckle raising the vessel up off the platform. The round foot rolls over the edge and forms a very nice raised lip on the underside. The form starts out bulbous at the bottom and tapers in ever so gracefully as it rises up to the top. The top has a very pleasing flared over almost flat top lip. This is a little irregular in shape as it is not perfectly round. When looking straight into the vase this kind of looks like a Daffodil Flower. The Gold Favrile, Aurene Iridescence is just outstanding!! You can see very strong Fuchsia's along the bottom foot accented with Platinum Blues with the rest of the vase showing its brilliant Gold iridescence. There is one part on the underside of the top lip that really shows off this Fuchsia Color and it is simply, "Gorgeous". Its almost on Fire!!
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece shows minor wear and it is my belief that was well taken care of through the years. It has some minor mineral deposits on the inside. This can only be seen when held to the light. There are a few minor scratches on the underside bottom edge and exterior which is typical of its age. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Tiffany's etched counter clockwise Signature that reads, "1503 - 1151 N L.C. Tiffany-Inc. Favrile" written in script. I believe the 1503 number is the model number in the Tiffany Favrile Catalogs. The Suffix Letter "N" means this vase was made in 1919. As an added bonus it still retains its original green and gold round paper label. You never purchase by signature but this one has a beautiful original one that is absolutely correct.
This is one of the nicest Gold footed Bud Vases I have had the pleasure of owning in quite some time. Usually I come across these with many deep and long scratches to the exterior and heavy calcium deposits as these were used items. This one has only a few very tiny scratches to the exterior that I could find. This is an extremely nice example in both form execution and iridescent Gold color.
