For Sale is a lovely vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. I call the shape a "Double Gourd" shaped vase. The Vase is rather large as it stands 10 1/16" tall and has a diameter of 5 1/2" at its widest point at the bottom gourd. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 4 3/8".

The base glass is a translucent light emerald green in color. The glass has a smooth exterior texture very similar to Steuben's "Verre de Soie Glass". This style of glass was called "Creta" (Green) Glatt by the Loetz glass blowers. The Iridescence exterior treatment is soft and not over powering. The Vase displays applied Tadpoles dropping down from the top lip. There are Tadpoles with short tails and Tadpoles with long Tails. These are applied at the top lip and are fused into the body of the vessel. It actually looks like the tails have grown right out of the top lip. These Tadpoles are staggered from short to long and there are a total of 6 Tadpoles. The top lip looks like and applied Loetz Bronce Glatt Glass and compliments this green vase just wonderfully. This vase is very European in design and shape.

The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Tadpoles are in perfect unharmed condition. This is quite Rare for this decor as there is usually damage. The Vase does display a fire polished and rolled top edge as well as having a counter sunk polished Pontil. This is the sign of a quality piece of Art Glass. The Vase is very clean inside and shows virtually little signs of use. It appears to have been a Cabinet piece most if not all of its life.

This is a Lovely Rare Vase that is not so commonly found without damage. This is also the largest version of this Decor in Loetz that I have been able to document over the past 10-15 years. You Loetz collectors will welcome this fine addition into your collection. This Vase was made, circa 1901.
