For sale is very unique piece of art glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is a "Diamond Lattice Flaring Vase". It is done in Tiffany's highly sought after gold Favrile iridescent glass. This vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 3 5/8" tall and the top opening has a diameter of 4 9/16" outside measurements. The foot has a diameter of 2 5/8".
The vase depicts a very pleasant flaring form that rises up and out of a bulbous rolled bottom edge. The vase is further decorated along the waist with an applied gold favrile diamond lattice pattern. The vase has a brilliant gold iridescent finish both inside and out. The gold is so strong and reflective it actually looks like pure gold but was made out of glass. Looking inside the brilliant gold iridescence with strong fuchsia hues is a real crowd pleaser. The glass looks metallic yet it is ever so fragile art glass.
This vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings. There are no excuses to be made for this example at all other than a few minor scratches on the underside bottom. This is not a commonly found form in the Tiffany Gold Favrile vases. I have only seen 1 other in 40+ years as a dealer collector. The vase also has a "Doughnut" Pontil. This is where the glass blower added some extra glass over the pontil as to give it added stability. This was very typical of an early Tiffany technique. The vase is properly signed with the counter clockwise etched script signature mark that reads"L.C. Tiffany-Favrile" along with number 2008 E to the left of this. The suffix letter "E" helps me date this piece to have been made circa 1910.
This is a quality piece of art glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The gold Favrile, Aurene iridescence and applied pattern was executed by a master and is just outstanding!! This is an excellent example of this form, color and pattern. I have sold many Tiffany Favrile items through the years and I can honestly say this vase has some of the strongest gold Favrile Iridescence I have ever seen. It rivals Steuben's Gold Aurene!! I'm quite sure the buyer will be delighted with their purchase.
