For sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Warwick". The shape is considered a footed handled planter or jardiniere. The planter is a nice size as it stands 3 3/4" tall to the top high spot and is 7 7/8" wide outside handle measurement and 5 3/8" deep.

The planter displays a modeled background that resembles a tree. There are embossed leaves and branches with leaves and buds. There is a naturalistic applied twig or branch handle attached to one end of the pot. These branches drop below the form and form the 3 feet that this stands on. What a nice organic feel this pot has!! The glaze is another story in its own. The background has a very pleasing tree bark natural coloring with the base covered in a pastel green green fern color. The Branches are done in a matte black glaze and the buds a burgundy red. The interior has a terracotta colored glaze.

The planter is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with the half kiln ink stamped "Weller Pottery" mark. There is also the number 7- written in black glaze. This was more than likely the finishers number. Those of you who collect the Warwick pattern and want a nice example both in form and glaze combination should not let this one slip by. The piece was made circa 1927-1933.
