For sale is a lovely art pottery vase made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is known as "Apple Blossom" and the form is a pillow vase. The vase measures 7 1/4" tall and approximately 7 1/2" in diameter outside handles measurement. The measurement of the actual vase opening is 4 3/4" wide and tapers in depth from 1 1/2 to 2" outside edge measurements. The base of the vase measures 3 3/4" wide and 3" deep.
The vase depicts apple blossoms on branches on both sides of the vessel. There are 2 twig style handles on each side to complete this naturalistic look that are quite detailed and delicate. The background on this very lovely vase is a subtle salmon pink with the blossoms in a creamy white with soft green leaves. The pattern is some what repeated on both sides of the bowl. They are not exactly the same with both showing unopened flower buds. The shape of vase is almost modernistic in form and resembles an angular styled cornucopia vase.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips. The only issue to report is some crazing and this is pictured. Crazing is common with this pattern and in all its glaze colors as well. This vase is signed with the raised relief "Roseville U.S.A." mark along with its mold number 373-7". There is also a letter "k" written in a blue grease pencil. This is more than likely the finishers mark. The glaze colors are bright and vivid as is the crispness of the mold.
I'm sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This vase was made circa 1948.
