For sale is a wonderful art glass berry bowl made by The Stevens & Williams Company of Stourbridge, West Midlands England. The bowl is done in the very popular bubble design that many collectors search for. The bowl measures 3" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter at the outside of the rim. This bowl is quite heavy for its size.

The bowl has a clear base glass with an all over bubble design of bubbles trapped in the encasement. The bubbles vary in size from very tiny and concentrated that almost makes the clear glass appear frosted to larger assorted elongated bubbles. There is also a splash of yellow, pink and green incorporated into this lovely bowl that appears to be closer to the interior. This bubble design has been attributed to Keith Murray who worked for Stevens and Williams during the 1930's.

The bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks or chips. There are some minor scuff marks on the base of this piece from where it rests. I am sure that the previous owner displayed this lovely piece proudly for visitors to admire.

The bowl does not have a signature mark but has a polished counter sunk pontil. This is the sign of quality hand-blown art glass. It has a wonderful soft , almost Vaseline texture to it which often gets mistaken with Steuben. I quickly learned that this was made from the same Company in England that Frederick Carder immigrated from.

Frederick Carder (1864-1963) Worked at Stevens & Williams 1881-1902 known for museum quality works in the art nouveau style. (Also founded Steuben Glass Works in Corning, New York in 1903).

This is quality art glass from the deco period and I'm positive the buyer will not be disappointed. This bowl would enhance any art glass collection even those who collect L.C. T. Favrile, Steuben Aurene, Durand, and Quezal. This bowl was made circa 1930's.
