For sale is a purse or handbag made by Bags by Josef or Gold Seal Importers of New York. The purse measures approximately 12 1/2" overall height with the handle included. The bag itself measures 7 1/2" tall without the handle and is 12 1/2" wide.

The purse has an all over macram pattern of uniform sized wooden beads for the exterior shell. The strap or handle measures 1" wide and is also done in the macram fashion. There is a gold toned zipper that has 1 larger and 1 smaller bead attached to the zipper pull to finish off the look of this stylish purse. The interior of the purse is lined with an ivory colored silk lined with 2 smaller pockets. There is also a label sewn in that reads "BAGS BY Josef HAND BEADED IN JAPAN". Gold Seal Importers sold bags that were imported as well as finer bags made in the United States. I even found the original paper label to this purse that reads "BAGS BY...Josef" on one side and "STYLE 603" on the opposite which will be in 1 of the interior pockets.

The purse is in excellent condition as there are no missing beads, tears in the lining or damage to the zipper. There is some slight discoloration on the lining that happens with age as well as a few surface scratches on the beads. This is only mentioned for accuracy and does not affect the value of this bag. The purse was made circa 1950's.
