For sale is a bronze desk set item made by Tiffany Studios, New York. This is called a pen tray and it is done in Tiffany's Studios most sought after Craftsman Brown patina. This pen tray is part of the highly collected bronze "Zodiac" desk set pattern. The pen tray stands 3/8" tall by 3" deep and is 9 3/4" wide.

The pen tray has the very desirable Craftsman Brown patina that shows typical age wear. This is a real collectors choice in the arts & crafts style decor. This is one of the most sought after and most popular patinas in the Tiffany desk set patterns. The pen tray displays a pair of fish looking at each other on 1 end and a scorpion on the other. These Zodiac symbols are "Pisces" and "Scorpio".

The pen tray is considered to be in very good condition as there are no dents, or dings. This piece shows typical used age wear and staining on the inside bottom tray and this is pictured. The piece is signed on the bottom with "Tiffany Stvdios New York" impressed mark along with the pattern number 1000 for the pen tray shape. These are done in the early smallest typeset. There are also the numbers "5196" lightly etched into the finish. More than likely this was an order number for a customer.

Tiffany started using a 3 digit numbering system after 1902. Since this has a 4 digit number with the small font and the letter "v" in Studios makes this one from the early period. This pen tray was made circa 1902-1905. Those of you who are looking for an excellent example of this pen tray in the Zodiac pattern with a Craftsman Brown patina will be delighted with their purchase.
