Rookwood

$395.00

For sale is a wonderfully arts and crafts designed vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The shape is a swollen Grecian urn shaped vessel and it done in a lovely deep blue glaze. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 6 1/4" tall and is approximately 4 3/8" in diameter at the shoulder. The top rim has a diameter of 2 1/2" outside diameter. The bottom has a diameter of 2".

The vase has a very pleasing speckled matte country blue glaze. It displays a Grecian Urn form with raised flowers in the body of the vessel. It is further accented on the top with a banded scalloped border along its shoulder leading to a raised and flaring neck. This same pattern is repeated along the bottom edge.

This vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is signed with Rookwood's impressed reverse "RP" and sunburst logo along with the Roman numerals "XXXIV" for the year of manufacture, 1934. There is also the mold number "6455" impressed under the date.

This will make a wonderful addition to your Rookwood Pottery collection and would look just great on that Stickley, mission, arts and crafts style bookcase. This form is not commonly found and it is in as good of condition as the day it was made.
