For sale is a lovely piece of art pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Hudson" and the form is a double handled flower vase. The vase has some size as it measures 8" tall and is approximately 4 1/2" in diameter, outside handles measurement. The rim measures approximately 2 1/4" in diameter, inside measurement.
The vase depicts a double handled form at the neck with 2 applied handles that resembles the shape of an ear. It displays a very pleasing robins egg blue background glaze at the top that bleeds down into a soft gray from the shoulder all the way to the bottom edge. The vase is hand decorated with a Daisy and leaf pattern. The detail is sharp and the painting is quite pleasing and naturalistic. The front side of the vase has a lot more painting than the opposite side. The leaves have a light olive color with white daisies with detailed yellow centers.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. You can see some crazing upon close inspection. This is quite common with the Hudson line. The vase is signed on the bottom with the globular vase ink stamp "Weller Ware" mark. It also has the impressed block signature "WELLER" mark as well. It is further signed by the artist under the front side left handle just behind it. It has the initials "S.T." for the renown Weller Pottery artist "Miss Sarah Timberlake" She is one of the most highly collected and desired artists that worker at Weller Pottery. Sarah Timberlake was the sister of Mae Timberlake and they worked together at Weller Pottery, Roseville Pottery and Owens Pottery.
