For sale is a nice piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Zephyr Lily" and the shape is a basket. The basket is a nice size as it measures 7 1/4" tall and is 6 1/4" in diameter at its widest point. The bottom has a diameter of 3 3/8".
The basket depicts a tall lily on each side with slender stems and leaves in the background on both sides. The flowers and leaves are done in raised relief. The background glaze is blended from deep teal green to a complimentary jade green. One flower is glazed in a creamy yellow color with brown pistils. The other one is a rosy salmon pink also with brown pistils. The handle is arched shaped and attaches at high points at the top of the body. This form is desirable and it shows minimal signs of use. The inside is very clean!!
This basket is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks or chips. This piece is signed with the raised relief mark of Roseville U.S.A. 393-7". There is4 other marks written in a black grease pencil, not sure if letters and number or both. These are all most likely the finishers marks. Purchase with confidence as this would be an excellent addition to one's art pottery collection especially that of Roseville Zephyr Lily.
This vase was made circa 1946.
