For sale is a lovely piece of art glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is the highly collected and very desirable "Queen" pattern ruffled bowl. The bowl is done in Tiffany's highly sought after Gold Favrile style of art glass. The bowl is a large size as it stands 2 3/4" tall and is 7 1/4" in diameter.

The bowl displays a ruffled border that you can see was hand formed and not mold made. The bowl has vertical ribbing that rises up from the bottom edge and works it way to the top edge at an angle or in a swirl motion. The ribbing almost disappears once it hits the top edge. There are 8 ribs. The gold Favrile, Aurene iridescence is just outstanding!! You can see strong Fuchsia's throughout and some platinum blues and purples on the exterior. The inside bottom of the bowl is a platinum blue with the brilliant gold iridescent.

The bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece shows minor wear on the underside bottom. The bowl is signed on the bottom with Tiffany's counter clockwise etched initial signature that reads, "L.C.T." for Louis Comfort Tiffany. There is also the numbers "6426" lightly etched to the left 1/4 turn. This is more than likely the work order number. I would say this bowl was made at the turn of the century circa 1900-1920.

I have attached a few black and white photos from the early catalog pages from Tiffany Studios. You can clearly see this shape in the 1st picture on the bottom row 2nd from the right. You can see it in the 2nd picture 1st one under the headed "Bon Bon, Berry Dishes, Nut Bowls". This is a very nice bowl and it is simply amazing that it has survived over 100 years in this condition. I'm sure the buyer will cherish this wonderful piece of art glass in their collection for many years.
