For sale is a very nice table lamp made by Tiffany Studios of New York. The lamp stands 14 1/2" high to the top of the heat cap and displays a 3 arm shade support. There is a green 7" Damascene style art glass shade complete with a 2 1/4" replica heat cap resting on that. The overall diameter of this lamp is just under 8". The base alone stands 10" tall.
The patina on the base and cap are just splendid. It is the very popular acid etched with large flakes statuary bronze patina. The base displays a pattern of 3 Ivy or Philodendron raised leaves on an irregular round foot. The column that rises from the foot kind of resembles tree bark that runs vertically and then splitting off into 3 branches that supports the shade. There is even bark style ribbing on the outside of the 3 arms. There is another branch that rises from the center of the 3 branches that holds the socket. The wire way comes out of the lower bulbous part of the column. The detail in this base is just outstanding!!
The base is in excellent condition as it still retains its original bell socket with GECO turn key switch. The socket has all its original screws and the lamp even has its original plug. The lamp was properly rewired with the period looking black rayon or cloth cord. The base is properly signed on the bottom with the impressed "Tiffany Studios New York" mark along with the base number "426". This is an exceptional example of this base made by Tiffany Studios, New York.
The shade off the lamp stands 4 3/4" tall and is 7" in diameter. The green on cased white when lit is simply gorgeous. Unlit the shade is equally as beautifully as it displays very strong iridescence and shows some of the strongest fuchsia tones I have seen in quite some time. The purple blue green wave pattern has been a popular Tiffany pattern for years. The shade is in equally as good condition as the base. There are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The artist cipher is in the neck of the shade and is of contemporary make.
The price I am asking for this table lamp is based on that cipher. I will guarantee this base to be an "Original Tiffany Studios base" made circa 1900-1920. The heat cap appears is a replica one as the patina is slightly different than the base. This is a wonderful, very beautiful table lamp and if the shade were original Tiffany we would be looking at a price of $6500-$7500. You can have this for substantially less than that. This makes this one much more affordable. This lamp has been tested and works great! I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed.
