For sale is a small low bowl or planter with a nice glaze made by the Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The low bowl is done in what I call a "Wistaria mix" glaze. The planter is a nice cabinet size as it stands 1 3/4" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter.
The low bowl displays a round shape with a turned in top lip and a deep well for its size. It has an Arts & Crafts embossed design that resembles a bow knot. It has a deep wisteria purple background glaze that is accented with a green brown flambe' surrounding the top lip opening. The inside of this bowl shows this nice flambe' glaze with beautiful runs of blue.
This bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The bowl is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's "Fulper" large vertical ink stamp inside a rectangle mark. We can date this bowl based on this mark. The was Fulper Pottery's earliest mark and was known as the Vasecraft years. This bowl was made circa 1909-1916. This bowl is known as shape number "95S" in the Fulper catalog pages and was simply stated as a bowl 6".
This is a wonderful example of this form and glaze from Fulper. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase.
