For sale is a vintage evening bag or purse made by the Whiting & Davis Company of Plainville, Massachusetts. It is made in the ever popular gold tone mesh and is a very nice example of their work. The purse measures approximately 5" tall and 6 1/2" wide at the base of the purse. The overall height with the rope cord style handle is approximately 10 1/2".

The purse has a metal mesh armor exterior and a peach satin liner. The purse has a plain gold tone frame and a mock buckle closure that you lift to open the purse and also to close it securely. The buckle adornment is decorated with rhinestones encircling the square buckle and another for a mock hole. The purse is a stunning bag and has a rope style handle to complete the look for that special occasion or a fashionable evening out. If you search the fashion world, you can see Hollywood stars such as Nicole Kidman and Paris Hilton accessorizing with Whiting and Davis purses.

The purse is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no tears in the linings and no unpleasant odors. The metal armor mesh is all in fine condition and the frame and hinge are undamaged as well. The armor mesh is in such fine shape and is highly reflective and actually picks up some of its color from the clothes you are wearing. There are no scratches to the frame as if it were never used.

The purse is unsigned however it is guaranteed to be vintage Whiting and Davis as the quality and technique is as good as a signature. I also have had many of their mesh purses with the same color satin liner.

This purse was made circa 1920's.
