For sale is a very nice vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a great arts and crafts shaped vessel. I would call this a "Buttressed Handled Bottle" vase. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 5 3/8" tall and is 3" wide at its bulbous bottom measurement. The vase has a bottle form. The vase is further accented with 2 buttress handles on each side of the top opening. The handles start at the top of the vase and come down to the waist. The vase display a wonderful matte lavender-purple glaze that is very uniform throughout. The handles have very sharp angles to them and really give this piece all of its' character.
The vase is in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's " reverse RP and sunburst logo" along with the Roman numerals XXX for the year of manufacturing, 1930. It also has the mold number "2562" impressed into the bottom. It also displays the 50th anniversary mark the the right of the "RP" logo.
This is a very nice arts and crafts shape created by Rookwood Pottery. Those of you who collect arts and crafts shaped pottery will surely welcome this vase into your collection. It will look great on any Stickley or Mission style furniture.
