For sale is a nice vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a great arts and crafts shaped vessel. I would call this a "Tapered Shoulder" form vase. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it measures 5 1/2" tall and is 3 1/4" in diameter at the shoulder.

The vase displays a tapered shoulder form with a indented raised neck. It has a wonderful matte green glaze with some light brown undertones.. The vase is further accented with an incised double diamond design that shows this pattern along the shoulder. There are 6 of these diamond patterns that sit a lower and 6 more in between them that are higher. The top pattern is more of a half pattern than a full one. Some of this is obscured by the glaze.

The vase is in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's "Reverse RP and Sunburst Logo" along with the Roman numerals XXXVIII the year of manufacture, 1938. It also has the mold number "6702" just under the date.

This is a wonderful arts and craft shape created by Rookwood. Those of you who collect arts and crafts design pottery will surely welcome this vase into their collection. It will look great on any Stickley, Arts & Crafts or Mission style furniture. It also has an Art Deco flair to it as well.
