Rockwell

$175.00

For sale is a lovely art glass silver overlay vase made by The Rockwell Silver Company of Meriden, CT. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 4 1/4" tall and is 4 3/4" in diameter at its shoulder which is the widest point.

This vase has a classic raised lip with a high shoulder and tapered in shape. It is very nicely decorated with a silver overlay pattern on a frosted base glass. The detail in the overlay is outstanding. The pattern in the overlay is that of an upstate New York Adirondack scene on a lake. There are Pine trees and a shoreline along a lake with a single goose flying above. The vase has 3 vertical silver overlay panels that depict Pine Cones and Pine Needles within. The silver has further etching in it to give the piece its realism.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips, or dings to any of the glass. There is minor wear to the silver. The piece is signed along the bottom edge in the silver border and it says "Sterling". The glass itself is not signed. It is to my understanding that The Rockwell Silver Company purchased glass blanks from numerous glass factories such as Fostoria, Tiffin, Pairpoint and so many others. They actually did the silver overlay and marketed the product. I believe this glass blank to have been made by Tiffin. This vase was made circa 1915-1925.
