For sale is a lovely teacup and saucer made by Royal Albert of Longton, England. The pattern is known as "Trillium". The cup measures 2 3/4" tall and 3 7/16" wide at the rim of the cup. The handle measures 3 1/16" at the highest point. The footed base measures 1 7/8" wide. The saucer is 15/16" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter.
The "Trillium" pattern depicts a lush plant in full bloom with white blossoms on the front of the cup for the right handed tea drinker. There is a smaller blossom on the back of the cup with 2 blossoms just opening. Finally, there is a single blossom with the three leaf cluster on the interior of the cup. The saucer is decorated with the all three of the decorations that are on the cup. The white trillium is the Official flower of the province of Ontario. It is also the official wildflower of Ohio. The rim, foot and handle are trimmed with gold as well as the edge of the saucer. The shape of the cup is known as Montrose.
Royal Albert has a history and reputation for being able to cater to people from all walks of life, from modest to the most exquisite taste. Many of their early wares were commemorative to the Royal family. The founder, Thomas Wild, had a love for flowers which inspired many of the patterns.
The teacup and saucer are in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The pieces are signed "Royal Albert Bone China, England, "Trillium". This cup was made circa 1975-1997.
