Roseville

$395.00

For sale is a very nice piece of art pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a window box planter or pillow vase and the pattern is the very collectible "Futura" line of art pottery. The window box measures 6 1/2" wide, 2 3/8" deep, and is 4 3/16" tall.

This window box or pillow vase displays a very futuristic Art Deco style for the time period when it was made. This window box sits on a six sided base or foot. A body with a pillow shape rises up off the foot and duplicates these 6 sides like the base. At the shoulder it comes in and raises up just a little to give this vase its added height. It is further accented with 2 handles at each end of the vase to simulate it holding the form up on the platform. This wonderful planter has a very pleasing salmon to rose colored glaze and some call it mauve. There is a Thistle pattern on both sides. One side has 2 embossed Thistle vines with the other only having one.

This window box is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, or major chips. There is a shallow nick along the bottom outer edge and is considered insignificant. You cannot see his when displayed. There is also a pin pop in the glaze along the foot area at the end corner. The piece is unsigned but there is no doubt as to who made this. It is a well documented Roseville Futura form. It was known as form number 85-4" in the Futura line of Art Pottery. This would be a lovely addition to any Roseville Futura collection. This window box planter was made circa 1924-1928.
