Grueby

$1,575.00

For sale is a wonderful arts and crafts shaped vessel made by The Grueby Pottery Company of Boston, Ma. The vase is called "Tapered Bud Vase" and it is done in a Grueby's signature matte green glaze The vase has some size as it stands 7 11/16" tall and is 3 11/16" in diameter at the bottom. The top hole is 2 3/16" in diameter outside measurement.

The vase has a tapered shape. It starts out with a wide base and tapers in to a very narrow top. The top has a small opening to put flowers. This shape resembles a beaker shape. This Grueby vase displays a beautiful deep frothy matte green glaze that pretty uniform throughout. You can see horizontal rings under the glaze formed by the throwers fingers.

This vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. It is signed with the Grueby circular impressed stamp mark which reads "Grueby Pottery Boston Mass U.S.A" with a lotus leaf inside. I would say this is a middle period mark subsequently this vase was made circa 1902-1907.

This is wonderful piece of art pottery is done in a beautiful matte green glaze. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This is truly a very nice example..
