Rookwood

$395.00

For sale is a wonderful arts & crafts design paperweight made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. This paperweight is a nice cabinet size as it measures 3 3/4" tall, 3 3/4" and 2 1/8" deep.

The paperweight display a Mayflower or Pilgrim style ship form riding through the waves. It sits on a platform that has wavy edges and top where the ships rests. The glaze is the very popular matte off white cream colored glaze. The detail is sharp and the year this was made it is much more common to find the high gloss glaze than the matte glazes. This is a hard to find form without damage and this one has none. This paperweight was designed by William McDonald.

This paperweight is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. This piece is signed with Rookwood's impressed reverse "RP" and sunburst logo along with the roman numerals "XLV" for the year of manufacture 1945. There is also the mold number "2792" impressed under the date.

This would make an outstanding addition to any art pottery collection and would look just great on that Stickley, mission, arts and crafts style bookcase. Those of you whom collect Rookwood Pottery don't let this one slip by!!.
