For sale is a nice size vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is arts and crafts styled vessel. I would call this a "Tapered Shoulder" vase. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it measures 6" tall and is 3 1/8" in diameter at the shoulder.
The vase displays a tapered shoulder form with a round top opening. It has a wonderful matte Robin's egg blue background glaze. The vase is further accented with an incised geometric design of small diamonds inside of a larger diamond surround by a left and right panel. There are 3 of these patterns surrounding the vase. It has a very strong arts and crafts influence.
The vase is in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There are a few minor pin pops in the glaze. The piece is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's "Reverse RP and Sunburst Logo" along with the Roman numerals XIX for the year of manufacture, 1919. It also has the mold number "2415" just under the date.
This is a wonderful arts and craft pattern created by Rookwood Pottery. It was designed by Albert Cyrus Munson. This pattern is considered rare as it is hard to find. Those of you who collect arts and crafts design pottery will surely welcome this vase into their collection. It will look great on any Stickley, arts & crafts or Mission style furniture.
