Weller

$595.00

For sale is a very nice vase made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The vase is from Weller's highly collected and very hard to find "Blue Louwelsa" line of art pottery. This vase is a nice cabinet size at measures 5 5/8" tall and is 5 1/8" in diameter at the bottom bulbous measurement. The foot has a diameter of 3 5/8".

The vase has a classic shape with a corseted neck. Its shape is very similar to a Volcano. The vase displays an outstanding deep hi gloss 2 toned blue glaze. The pattern is a very pleasing one of berries and leaves.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is an area along the bottom bulge that is thin in the glaze and you have to look carefully to see this. The vase is signed on the underside with Weller's circular impressed "Louwelsa X Weller" mark along with some numbers. I can see a number 9 and can't make out the other 1 or 2 numbers.

Those of you who collect Blue Louwelsa and are looking to add an excellent example to their collection do not let this one slip by. This vase is an excellent example of this form and glaze. This vase is considered early as it was made circa 1895-1910.
