Hull

$65.00

For sale is a very cute piece of art pottery made by The Hull Pottery Company of Crooksville, Ohio. The shape is a Piggy Bank. The piece measures 6 1/4" tall, 5 3/4" deep and 5 3/8" wide. The slot for the coins measures 1 1/2" by 1/4" wide.

The Piggy Bank depicts a cute little pig sitting on his butt with his eyes closed and a smile on his face. He kind of looks like "Wilbur" from the cartoon "Charlotte's Web". The background glaze is done in a chocolate hi gloss brown glaze. The top of the Pig's head is a lighting tan brown flambe' and it kind of looks like hair. The Pig is further decorated with some Robin's egg blue om each ear. He has this same tan brown flame for his sides with the top neck on his back having that same Robins eggs blue with some brown as his ears.

The bank is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed "Hull USA" with a Copyright symbol and the form number 196 incised into the clay and glazed over. It still retains its original cork plug for easy access to the money. This is the perfect gift for that little one to learn to start saving. It appears that this back was never used.

The Hull Pottery Company was in business from 1905-1986. Hull made some of its finest Pottery from 1930 into the 1950's. It closed its plant in March 1968. This vase would look outstanding in any country or shaker setting. It would look better in a little persons room. This Piggy Bank was made circa 1957-1960.
