For sale is a lovely vase made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is known as "Bleeding Heart". The vase has some size to it as it stands 8 1/4" tall, 6" wide and 3 1/8" deep at the foot. The top is only 3" deep.
This vase depicts a very pleasing pattern that consists of string of Bleeding Heart flowers that come out of the leaves at the center. The leaves drop down from the top lip. This pattern is on both sides but are not the same. One side has 1 string of Bleeding Hearts and the opposite side has 2 strings.
The flowers are a salmon rose color with yellow points and sage green leaves. This pattern is set against a robins eggs blue background glaze. The top lip has a 8 point star octagram with the bottom having the same 8 point configuration. To finish this wonderful vase are 2 feet that rise up from the bottom foot and attaches to each side of the lower portion of the vase.
This vase is in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The vase is signed with the raised relief Roseville U.S.A. signature along with the shape number 968-8". There is an X written in a blue grease pencil. I believe this to be the finishers marks.
This vase is an excellent example of the Bleeding Heart pattern and form. This vase was made circa 1940.
