Weller

$695.00

For sale is a beautiful large centerpiece vase made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Baldin" and the vase is so gorgeous!. This vase is very large as it stands 9 3/16" tall and is 10 3/16" in diameter. The opening has a diameter of 4 5/16" inside measurement.

This large vase has a beautiful earth toned colored background glaze with a wonderful blending of greens and browns. The vase displays several very realistic looking apples hanging from a branch. The branch is done in raised relief and simulate a functional branch handle that looks very realistic. The apples are hanging from branches and are ripe, plump and some are ready for picking. The leaves have very nice coloring in them as well and appear to be Macintosh Apples as they have areas of red and yellow green. This pattern is repeated throughout the vase.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a couple of glaze misses and glaze thinness in some areas. There is a small glaze bruise to the underside ring where it sits. It appears to have been made this way. This cannot be seen when displayed. The piece is not signed on the bottom but there is no mistake as to who made this vase. It is a well documented Weller Pottery pattern.

There is also a number 2 or Z written in green glaze. This large Baldin centerpiece vase is almost as nice as the day it was made. It is very clean and shows minimal signs of use. The detail is sharp and crisp. I'm quite sure the buyer will not be disappointed with their purchase. This vase will work in any mission, arts and crafts or country decor. In fact, I think it will work with most decors including primitives.

This vase was produced during Weller's early middle period, circa 1915-1920.
