Roseville

$150.00

For sale is a beautiful art pottery jardiniere made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is called "Water Lily" and it is in the ever popular blue background glaze. The jardiniere stands 4" tall and is just shy of 7" at 6 15/16" in diameter at its widest point which is the top handles outside measurement. The top opening is 4 1/4" inside diameter and 5 1/4" outside diameter.

The jardiniere has a squat form with 2 buttressed style applied handles. The leaves with moss green glaze is simply striking and realistic looking. The vase displays a Water Lily design that consist of a large embossed open Water Lily flower on a watery blue background of horizontal wavy ridges. The large blossom is surrounded by large green leaves and a bud. The backside is the same but without the bud. This is one of Roseville's most popular patterns and glazes.

The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are the usual few pin pops but nothing too obtrusive. The piece is signed on the bottom in raised relief "Roseville U.S.A." and the mold number 663-4" also in raised relief. There is also an incised number "9" and was more than likely a finishers numbers.

This piece was made in 1943 during World War II. Those of you who collect this pattern and want a nice example need to look no further. This is nice example in both form and glaze combinations.
