Sold

For sale is a wonderful set of carnival glass made by The Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia. The pattern is known as "Grape and Cable" and it is a water set with 6 tumblers. The pitcher is a table size and it measures 8 1/2" tall at the lip and 7 3/4 deep from the outer edge of the spout to the outer edge of the handle. The body of the pitcher measures 5 3/8" wide. The base has a diameter of approximately 4 1/2". The tumblers each measure 4" tall and 3 1/8" in diameter at the rim and 2 3/8" wide at the base.

The pitcher depicts grape clusters and very detailed leaves hanging from their vine supported by a thick cable surrounding the exterior of the vessel. The bottom portion of the pitcher has a heavy border decoration underneath the grapes. It has a saw tooth edge at the rim and an impressed star on the foot of the vessel. The tumblers are decorated in the same manner. The base color of this beautiful set is amethyst and the iridescence is very nice. You can see vivid colors of fuchsia, teal and gold throughout. The foot is what is known as a collar base foot. This is an exceptionally crisp mold and is considered an excellent example.

The set is in excellent condition as there are no crack, nicks, chips or dings. The pitcher and the tumblers are signed with an underlined "N" in a circle. Here is your chance to own a wonderful set of carnival glass that is affordable. This water set was made circa 1911-1917.
