For sale is a very nice desk set item made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The pattern is the ever popular and highly collected "Pine Needle" desk set pattern. This is known as a small desk calendar in the Tiffany Studios Pine Needle desk set catalog. The calendar is a petite size as it stands 6 1/8" wide by 4 1/8" tall, and is 2 3/16" deep when the easel is set up. When laying flat it measure 4 5/16" tall by 6 1/8" wide. The picture or calendar window size is 3 5/16” wide by 2 1/16” tall. This is a front measurement inside the beading measurement. The back side shows a larger measurement as it is 3 5/8" wide by 2 1/2" tall.
The calendar displays an acid etched pattern of Pine Needles. It has a wonderful and beautiful Tiffany green/brown. This has been a popular pattern among LC Tiffany Studios collectors for years. This frame has original Tiffany Favrile translucent green gold glass and not the usual Kokomo green white. The frame has the most desirable beaded border around the picture and around the exterior of the frame. The frame stands on an easel back support with 2 legs with round balls on the ends and is in excellent working condition. It still retains all of its original screws.
This calendar frame is considered to be in excellent as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or to any of the glass or frame. It stills retains all of its original calendar pages for the months and days. There are 7 pages. There are 3 larger month pages with 2 months on each side along with 4 smaller day pages. There is clear glass holding these pages in the frame and appears to have been a more recent acquisition to the frame. There are tiny nibbles and a small chip to one of the corners. This is considered insignificant. The calendar pages show minor wear. I have taken pictures of all 7 pages. The quality is outstanding!! The frame is signed on the back with the "Tiffany Studios New York" impressed signature mark along with the model or pattern number 20.
Truly a quality find in excellent condition. This frame has all the bells and whistles. It has original Tiffany Favrile glass, beaded border and green brown patina. Tiffany started numbering his desk set pieces usually with a 3 digit number after 1902. Since this has a 2 digit number we know it was made before 1903. This calendar frame was made circa 1898-1902. I'm positive the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. The quality and condition just doesn't get any better than this one!!
