The paper clip stands 1 1/2" tall and is 3 3/4" wide and 2 5/8" deep outside round pin head measurement.
The Paper Clip displays a beautiful Tiffany green brown. The acid etched pattern of Pine Needles has been a popular pattern among LC Tiffany Studios collectors for years. This paper clip has a green white opalescent Favrile Glass under the acid etched metal pine needle filigree pattern.
This paper clip is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings to any of the glass or frame. The clip opens and closes with ease and still feels very sturdy. The patina is rich and strong and shows minor wear. The paper clip is signed on the bottom with the "Tiffany Stvdios New York" impressed signature mark along with the pattern number "971". The font size is very small and the "v" in Studios denotes this as early. There is also the number "651" scratched just underneath. This was more than likely the order number.
This Paper Clip is about as good as it gets. These when found are usually damaged, but this one is not. It displays all the bells and whistles as it has original Green white Favrile Opalescent Glass and a great green brown patina. Tiffany started using a 3 digit numbering system after 1902. Since this has a 3 digit number with a micro mark it would have been made circa 1902-1905.
