Black River Mission holds true to the techniques of the old masters by using through-tenon joinery, a period finish, full grain leathers, and hand-hammered copper hardware. We have been selling reproduction mission oak furniture for 10 years. The pieces are of excellent design and quality and are time-tested, faithful reproductions. We commission the work from several woodworkers, and Phil puts on a finish that compliments most interiors and blends very well with both antique and new furniture.

Suzanne produces fine, functional stoneware pottery, handmade tiles, and vessel sinks by hand in her studio in Earlysville, Virginia, not far from Charlottesville and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Her work is inspired by the graphics and pottery of the Arts and Crafts movement, by the abstractions of flora and fauna in 19th century natural history book illustrations, by fractal geometry, and by her family’s interest in botany and land conservation. In collaboration with her husband, Matthew Crane, Suzanne also makes a line of fine Mission style tile-topped furniture. The Cranes welcome commissions for handmade tile murals for kitchen backsplashes, bathroom tile, tile fireplace surrounds, tile mirror surrounds, vessel sinks, tiled furniture, and floor tile applications. Crane exhibits her work locally at Mud Dauber Pottery’s gallery in Earlysville, Virginia, nationally at juried fine art and craft shows and at numerous galleries, museum shops, and kitchen and bath showrooms. Milwaukee Craftsman LLC provides unique, architect designed house plans in the arts & crafts style. Plans may be purchased as finished blueprints or as conceptual designs. By purchasing a conceptual design, the buyer will have authorization to add to, or modify, the design as they wish.
