For Sale is a lovely vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Vase is done in one of Fulper's most highly collected glazes. It is done in their beautiful "Wistaria" glaze. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 6 7/8" tall and is 4" in diameter at the widest point. The vase appears to be hand thrown and is considered a ovoid form. My research tells me this is a mold made piece based on the raised signature mark.
The Vase displays a rich deep Mauve over Purple Glaze with some Gray in the glaze at the neck of the vessel. The inside has a dark brown waterproofing interior glaze. Truly a lovely Vase and a joy to offer this piece to that avid Fulper collector. This Vase has good weight and nicely shaped form. The exterior top lip is raised and displays gray with some mustard yellow undertones.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no issues to report. This also appears to be shape number 583 in the Fulper Catalog Pages. There are several very tiny glaze pin pops which is quite common with this glaze. None of them are obtrusive. The Vase is double signed on the bottom. There is one with the raised "Fulper" vertical mark which can clearly be seen with only the "F" being a little obscured by the glaze. It also has as an added bonus a second mark known as the "Racetrack' ink stamp mark. This is the signature mark inside an oval and resemble a racetrack.
This Vase was made Circa 1922 as the Racetrack mark was used from 1922-1928 and the raised Fulper mark was used from 1916-1922. This vase was made during the signature change and is evident of this time frame. This is truly a wonderful piece of American Art Pottery and I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed!!
