For sale is a wonderful piece of art pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is a vase but the reference book below on Fulper by Hibel they say it is a jar. This vase has some size as it stands 6 13/16" tall and is approximately 8" in diameter at the swollen shoulder.
The vase displays a classic snake charmer shape but is considered a tapered swollen shoulder form vase. The vase has the nicest cucumber crystalline glaze I have ever owned. The pictures says it all. The vase displays a two toned pea green glaze with some brown undertones. The crystal are fabulous and are very plentiful. The inside of the vase has a dark brown waterproofing glaze. Truly a lovely vase and a joy to offer this piece to that avid Fulper collector. This vase is quite solid and has good weight for its size. The exterior top lip shows a hint of their Flambé glaze surrounding it. This glaze color is absolutely beautiful and a stunner.
This jar/vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's incised racetrack signature mark. This would date this vase to be made circa 1916-1922. It is known as shape number 658 in the Fulper catalog pages according to the book on Fulper by Hibel-Defalco-Rago.
This is a wonderful example of this form and glaze from Fulper. I'm sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style bookcase.
