Rookwood

Sold

For sale is a lovely vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The vase shape is known as a tapered shoulder vase. The vase stands 5 1/4" tall and is 3 5/8" in diameter at the shoulder. The bottom has a diameter of 1 7/8".

The vase displays an arts and crafts design of stylized bell flowers and leaves. There are three of these surrounding the vase. The is set against a matte olive-pea green background glaze. The pattern is well detailed and sharp. A very nice cabinet size to add to your Rookwood pottery collection. This is such a graceful shape and I would have to say one of the most popular shapes for this style of vase.

The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips, or dings. The vase is clean inside and out. The vase is signed with Rookwood's reverse RP impressed sunburst logo along with the Roman numerals XXIV for the year of manufacture 1924. It could be a little bit later as the glaze comes right to the V in the date and there could be more Roman numerals. There is also the mold number 2123 impressed below the date.

Those of you who collect this pattern and want an excellent clean example will be extremely pleased with your purchase. It would look just wonderful sitting on that Stickley, mission, arts and crafts bookcase.
