For sale is a very nice desk set item made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The pattern is the ever popular and highly collected "Grapevine" desk set pattern. This is known as a pen wipe in the Tiffany Studios Grapevine desk set catalog. This pen wipe is quite petite as it stands 1 7/8" tall to the top of the brush and only 1 7/16" without the brush. The pen wipe is 2 1/4" in diameter.

This pen wipe displays an acid etched pattern of Grape leaves and Grapes. It has a wonderful and beautiful Tiffany craftsman brown patina. This has been a popular pattern among LC Tiffany Studios collectors for years. This pen wipe has original Tiffany Favrile green white opalescent glass. The glass is slumped or curved inside and put together in the copper foil method. It stills retains its original brush. Many of these have after market brushes. I have another pen wipe in gold I'll be selling and that one has an after market brush. There are distinct differences between them.

This pen wipe is considered to be in excellent as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or to any of the glass or frame. The quality is very good. There is some patina wear to the metal especially on the underside. This cannot be seen when displayed. The pen wipe is signed on the underside bottom back with the micro "Tiffany Stvdios New York" impressed signature mark along with the model or pattern number 981.

Truly a quality find in very good condition. Tiffany started numbering his desk set pieces usually with a 3 digit number after 1902. Since this has a 3 digit number and the small "v" in Tiffany we know it was made after 1902 but early. This pen wipe was made circa 1902-1905 based on the micro impressed mark, the letter v and 3 digit number. I'm positive the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase.
